Summer in Arizona

My favorite time of the year in Arizona is Monsoon season.  The thunderheads build up, the wind starts blowing and then the rain pours down.  This can happen in a matter of minutes.
Yes, they can be dangerous so it is best to take precautions when you are in a Monsoon.
Last night the wind kicked up and blew in a whole bunch of clouds.
Right above my house was this cloud with a  beautiful rainbow in it.
I take it as a sign that good things are coming my way.

Last Night's Sky

I was sitting here last night, wasting time on facebook (one of my favorite things to do) when
a little voice said to me "pick up your camera and go outside".  I thought "why"? I have been working on tapping into my intuition so I picked up my camera and went outside. Wow!
The first picture was taken at 7:05PM facing west into the sunset.  I turned around and was facing east and the sky had these dark looming clouds and beautiful pink streaks coming down from them.  I went back in after taking the first two pictures.  I went back out at 7:35PM, in Arizona summer storms come up at a moments notice and the sky changes just like that.  The dark looming clouds had moved to the west and the sun had turned the sky golden.

Mama, don't take my Kodachrome away.

After 74 years, Kodak is discontinuing their Kodachrome film.

Whether we like it or not, we must all accept change and progress, the digital age takes over.

My Dad...A Brave Man

This post is dedicated to my Dad.  He is a Saint in my eyes.  He was blessed with three daughters.  Can you even begin to imagine how patient he is?

Curtis (My Dad), Faith, Grace, Rose (My Mom), and Tracey.
This photo was taken on Friday 6/19/2009, we all got together for a family dinner.

Happy Fathers Day, Dad! I love you!

Thursday...Everybody's Talkin'

I don't know what it is about Thursdays, I just have a hard time functioning and getting it all together. Today I am going to share one of my all time favorite artists singing a wonderful, soothing song.

Cutest Baby Ever!

Ok, so I am a little prejudice.  But really, Baby Grandson is the cutest baby ever!
I can't wait to see him, I am going to hug him, squeeze him,
kiss him and gently pinch his cheeks.

Flag Day

The Pledge of Allegiance
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

The Star Spangled Banner
by Francis Scott Key
O! say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O! say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I had a yard sale yesterday and still have a lot of stuff left over.
The decision was made to continue and have the yard sale again today.
Here are my six words for "Six Word Saturday".

Yard Sale Today

Today I am having a yard sale. I have been up since 5AM getting it all ready.
Here is my little helper, he was so excited
and found all kinds of things that he wanted to keep.
Wisely, I sent him off to school.

My Perspective

This cartoon sums up how I feel about the way things currently are.
Might as well have a sense of humor.
P.S. This is as about as political as I will get on my blog...

June Sunset

Last's night sunset was so pretty.
The sky was so blue and the clouds fluffy and
scattered all around.
The hot temperatures are giving us a break this week,
it is going to be lower to mid 90's all week.

Ballerinas

An envelope arrived in the mail last week.  My dad sent me CDs of photos he had scanned.
Oh my! To my surprise I found this old black and white of me.  I loved my ballet lessons.

As I investigated the CD further, I found this picture of my Daughter.
She loved her ballet lessons too.

No real point to this post, really,  just cute pictures of two skinny girls
who loved to dance!

Blooming Cactus

An interesting blooming cactus I found in my garden last night.
I am not sure what the name of this cactus is, I will have to research it.
